The Intel® Movidius™ Neural Compute Stick 2 (NCS2) is a compact, USB 3.0-powered deep learning accelerator designed for rapid prototyping of AI applications at the edge. Built on the Intel Movidius Myriad X VPU, it delivers up to 4 trillion operations per second and features 16 SHAVE cores plus a dedicated neural compute engine for efficient, low-power inference (≈1.5 W). Compatible with the Intel OpenVINO™ toolkit, the NCS2 supports popular frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX, enabling developers to optimize and deploy models on devices ranging from laptops to Raspberry Pi—without needing cloud connectivity. Ideal for vision-based projects such as drones, robots, and smart cameras, it offers out-of-the-box examples and streamlined model conversion for faster development. Though Intel discontinued production in June 2022, the NCS2 remains a valuable tool for edge AI experimentation and deployment.
